Press release

In his next show in the gallery kunstbuero Siggi Hofer demands: „Voglio spazio per crescere" – „I want space to grow“.
An oversized figure cut out of wood, depicting the artist, is forced into the showroom with angled legs – writing this need on the wall with a brush. Across from it a huge watercolour drawing of a fictive city seen from above is mounted to the wall. Three people are engaged in building the city, painting green areas over the last remaining white – non existing parts of the city landscape. The size of the figure reveals the city as a model of a city extendable in all directions. Their activities point towards activities also expected from an artist, permanently having to react to political and social developments and having to be creative ongoingly. So on the photo of the invitation poster Siggi Hofer can be seen as an indian standing between his four walls with a posture of liberty and a distant gaze in his eyes. (Li Tasser)
